I recently bought a duplex and am living in one of the units. There is a lot of work I need to do to this place to make it as efficient as possible. I moved from a 1,400 sq-ft house to an 800 sq-ft house which has meant there is a lot of stuff I need to get rid of or to store in a more efficient manner.
I am still in the middle of unpacking and knew I needed more storage space in the bathroom to even get close to unpacking in there. I decided to go with some bathroom shelves to hold my make up, hairspray, perfume, etc.
I bought a shelf kit from Target, with all the mounting included. This beauty below took about 1.5 hours to do. 1.25 of that time was spent learning how to use my drill, figure out what the directions were really saying and trial and error on drilling away from the studs. I tried to use a stud finder before but it didn't work so I just said "eff it" I will just do this by trial and error.
It only took about 10 holes in the wall before I figured out where the good holes went for the shelves to be installed properly. Fortunately for me, 8 of those 10 holes were covered up behind those shelves. I feel really sorry for myself when I have to take the shelves out though, because it will be embarassing to see how badly I screwed this up.
Apparently you were supposed to use mounts as well, but those were too hard to install so Just went with this. I am cool with it. It holds my stuff on the shelf and hasn't fallen yet. Cross your fingers!
